When visiting Grandpa and Grandma Conference weekend, the girls discovered baby bunnies...
They are so cute and fun to hold.. Hallie and Brae love them the most!
On Thursday Oct. 10, the girls didn't have school, so we took them to Smurf's Two, and promised we would also go out to dinner. We (mom) went to all the parent teacher conferences and had amazing reports on all the girls, so it was time to celebrate...
After dinner, the weather was nice, so we decided to go for a nice little walk..
When we are literally 2 houses from home, Kara asked Aubree if she wanted to race... Aubree declined because of a slight tummy ache from eating too much, So I, the mother said I will race you.. and took of running... I see Kara catch me quick, and then go down... She was wearing flip flops and they caught on the sidewalk, and down she went...
Her feet came up over her head and I thought she was going to do a full circle flip... she came up with a silent cry... but a big cry in pain... holding her wrist...
She scraped her knee, top of her foot, and hip... but that was nothing compared to her wrist.
We got some ice on it and gave her ib profin... but when we saw the swelling start and the low ability to move her hand, Drew took her in. It was right at 8pm when he left, and guess what? all the small urgent care offices close at 8... so off to the ER they went..
The Dr. figured it would just be a sprain, but went a head and did an x-ray... to find she had indeed a buckle break on her radial bone... It is a very stable break.. and should heal quick..
Here are the pictures Drew sent from the ER....
Finally home... 10pm so tired...
The following Monday I got her out of school to see an orthopedic Dr. He reviewed the x-rays with us and chose to give her a removable cast... Which has proven to be really nice for her to take it off, let it air out, wash it, and of course be able to shower with out having to worry about keeping a cast dry. It felt really nice to her to be out of the splint and sling..
You can see the small little buckle on the right bone, 1/4 of the way down.. (the small little bump)
After a quick bite to eat, it was back to school... There were a few kids that were pretty upset with her, that they wouldn't be able to sign her cast.. Which I am glad for.. this little brace looks way better than a totally signed over cast..
Note:
Always think twice before running in flip flops on the side walk...
