Braces FREE!

Kara first started with head gear and wore that faithfully for 9 months every night.  Once all of her adult teeth were in, we started braces... June 2012... She did really well with them. The plan was to have them off in a year... It took 19 months to get them just right... Looking at the before and after it is amazing to see how much she changed in 19 months!  She has such a beautiful smile!

First Day...

 LAST DAY!
Jan.  30, 2014
She got to miss school...
We took her to her appointment, picked up Hallie, got lunch, had lunch with dad at work, then headed to Kohl's where she found 2 new shirts to wear!
Impressions are always the worst... ONE last one...
And just like that.... they are off! YAY!

Water Damage and Snow Carnival

For most of January, we were living in a horrible inversion! NO sun and cold weather can really get to you.. SO we planned on going to McCall to see the parade and winter carnival snow sculptures.

The night before, I had gone to a friends house to do a little craft night... I called the girls at 8:05 pm saying I was on my way home... As I am pulling onto our street, the girls called and all I hear is screaming...  as I open the garage, they are all standing at the door and they all look pale and scared to death... I am thinking... who is hurt? who is bleeding? what is going on?
The pipe connection in the upstairs bathroom, that we remodeled a few years ago, came off, and water was spraying everywhere. It sounded like the tub was on full blast, only under the sink.   Braelyn was upstairs getting ready to brush her teeth, when it happened, called for Kara who came up stairs quick. It took her a little bit to figure it out, and that is when she called me.
Because the girls were in such a panic, that put me in a panic....
(I now realize I may not be so calm in an emergency situation. )
I quickly called Drew, at work. Luckily he is the one that answered the phone and all he could hear was this crazy lady saying something about water, where do I turn it off, girls screaming in the background... and he his thinking this crazy lady needs to hang up and call 911..
He then realizes it is me, as I am running down the stairs to the crawl space to turn of the water... then we realize I can just turn off the valve that is under the sink. So I run back upstairs and quickly turn the water off...
I began finding every towel there was mopping up what I could and throwing the towels into the tub... The girls then come running upstairs screaming again, this time because water is coming out of one of the light fixtures! HAAAA...
Drew is on his way, but it seems like forever...
so we find more towels and start mopping up the kitchen.
So, the guys came, laid out a tarp, but decided not to rip up the ceiling, (which they should have)... but decided we were okay, and left... SO I calmed the kids and got them to bed... When Drew got home Saturday morning, the house smelled of wet sheet rock... and as we looked at the ceiling together we noticed a seam that was really wet, and ready to drip.... So Drew digs in... and we have water pouring out of the ceiling....
We cleaned up enough, and loaded the car and headed to McCall to see the sun and snow with Pat and Steve..  trying not to think of our mess the whole day...
anyway...
We realized that the water had gone under the vanity and in the heat vent pipe... filling that up, then leaking and soaking the insulation and running over to the light fixture... So we knew we need to replace some heat pipe...
After another sleepless night, drew realized that no heat was coming out of the open pipe and that water probably went south into the crawl space... He was right... So Sunday after church he was in and out of the crawl space emptying water and replacing more vent pipe.. not the best day to do it, but it had to be done...
It took us about a week to get all put back together and  a little over $400

Hello Sunshine!
The day in McCall was fun... cold... but sunny and bright...

On the way home Hallie had fun taking lots of pictures... only to be photo bombed by Kara... which she wasn't very amused by.

Getting the mail on a snowy day... We were really grateful for this snow, because it helped to clear our the inversion and we had sun again in the valley!

Silly Girls and Ice skating

You could say these girls can get to be a little silly...
I am just glad that, most of the time, they play good with each other.

It has been tradition to go ice skating on New Years Eve or Day... But this year we were on our way out of town to visit family... So, we still had to plan it and go. The girls did great and had a lot of fun...  I only got a few pictures before the batteries died in the camera- UGG.. oh, well.. I need to learn to carry extra ones with me..

Fun for the new year

Jan. 1 we loaded up and headed to Wyoming to visit family. Since my mom works for the school district she was able to get us into the Middle school to play a day. We were able to use the P.E. roller skates, scooter boards, pogo sticks and so much more. It was a great break from the house and snow and wind to go and play..

 Aubree and Grandpa played Cribbage.
Only Aubree could follow the rules enough to play.. the rest of us gave up... it was a little complicated and involved math.. but Aub loves math, so it was right up her alley.
We also enjoyed the hot tub.

We spent one night at Gma and Gpa Francis' house again. We love spending time there with them, and they seemed to be doing pretty good. I am so thankful for them!
Hallie's always has to pull out the puzzles! (puzzles I did when I was young)

Saturday the 4th was Kristian's baptism. So we headed to Sandy to be there for that. It was fun being with cousins for just a short time. We wish we could have stayed longer to hang out, but we had to head home.
All the kids....
 All the adults....
